Roy’s Toy I

1985 Bayliner Ciera Designers Edition

I became interested in boats and fishing in the early 1980s. I started fishing lakes and streams, graduated from a 10’ John Boat, to a 13’ Boston Whaler, then to a cabin crusier. I took delivery in early April 1985 at Napoli Marine West Haverstraw, NY, my toy a 26’ Bayliner with 9.5’ beam. We departed for Sportsman's Island Marina on the Manasquan River in Brick, NJ on April 20, 1985. Capt. Roy, First Mate Eileen, Crew Wayne and Wilma Wichart, Bob and Randi Bendetson. cruising down the Hudson River, past the Intrepid Aircraft Carrier Museum, then onto the Statue of Liberty (under renovation in 1985) past Sandy Hook and into the Atlantic we arrived at Sportsman's Island Marina, and were welcomed by George and Meri Schmalz through the seasons we made some dock improvements we had many great days fishing the Atlantic for blues, snapper and yellowfin tuna and we can't forget the days rafting together and swimming at Silver Bay off Barnegat Bay boo-hoo, then came winter storage late in October each year and of course, more dockside improvements we stayed at Sportsman's Island Marina for 3 seasons, then moved to Cassidy's on the Metedeconk River for one season and then across to Wehrlen Brothers Marina until I sold the toy in 1994.
